I am working with a Global retailing/FMCG client, they have a long history of supplying their customers with iconic products.

 

We are looking for an Imports Manager to optimise the inbound flow of goods from supplier to receiving DC for the EMEA (European, Middle East and Africa) region. As well as assuring the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of all products from their respective source countries.

 

Key areas of responsibility will be:

In liaison with your colleagues in other regions, select and manage the FF (Freight Forwarder) responsible for managing the importation of goods from their respective origins:

  • Ensure appropriate interfaces provide a seamless transfer of information between the business and the Freight Forwarder. Provide access to the FF’s portal to key users
  • Create and maintain SOPs to ensure the Freight Forwarder is fully aware of their obligations in the end to end process – from PO collection at the supplying factory to delivery of the consignment at the receiving DC
  • Review FF’s choice of logistics providers
  • Facilitate regular performance reviews with FF. Provide regular forecast updates (by origin and mode of transport)
  • Establish appropriate reports and assess performance versus KPIs
  • Create a high performing team through selecting and developing great talent and reviewing performance and development on a regular basis
  • Ensure right resources are in place to deliver against priorities

 

In addition to having relevant experience within a Global Supply Chain environment, the successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate great leadership and be able to quickly develop effective relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside of the business, to ensure engagement and compliance with agreed performance, quality and compliance standards
  • Have a passion for learning, a drive for continuous improvement and a resilient personality
  • Strong experience in a similar role, importing products from overseas
  • Proven track record of managing transportation and logistics contracts (from design to ongoing management)
  • Experience successfully negotiating with carriers and 3PL providers
  • Previous budget responsibility and adherence to cost targets
  • Excellent systems & process knowledge with the ability to effectively implement change
  • Able to analyse situations quickly find solutions to problems and make good decisions
  • Great leadership that delivers results through effective task delegation, coaching and training

 

The role can be based in Northants or London and they are paying a competitive salary + benefits package.
